Jersey Pits Rescue Inc. offers compassion and understanding to owners who relinquish their pets. We realize that situations arise and at times animals need to be rehomed. As a small, foster based rescue we are limited in the number of owner surrenders that we can take in. We accept surrenders on a case-by-case basis.
Surrender Process:

Your pet’s placement in our rescue is based on a variety of factors, including the results of a medical exam and a behavior evaluation.

After all information about your pet has been gathered and the animal evaluation completed, we will discuss your options with you so you can make the best decision for you and your pet.

A copy of your pet’s veterinary records and photo identification are required.

You will be required to sign a surrender form and relinquish all rights to your animal over to Jersey Pits Rescue Inc. (This means that the animal legally belongs to Jersey Pits Rescue Inc. and you no longer have legal rights to the animal)

Cost to surrender – $100 per animal and this fee will be put toward the cost of your pet’s care during their stay with us.

Owner Support:
Jersey Pits Rescue Inc. is able to offer a variety of resources to assist pet owners in keeping their pets. Resources include:

Reduced routine veterinary care

Reduced fee food and/or supplies

Behavior advice and trainer referrals

Assistance with tenant/landlord disputes

Please remember that we do not have a facility, so all of our dogs are in foster homes and we are EXTREMELY LIMITED in the number of owner surrenders we can take.
